We are seeking a highly collaborative, creative, energetic financial planning and analyst (FP&A) professional who is passionate about our mission and excited to provide the support necessary for Muso to scale. The FP&A Manager will partner with other leaders across the organization to plan, analyze, report and drive business goals. The role will work throughout the organization to identify efficient methods to collect, store, and report information in clear and concise ways. The role will also support the development, consolidation, and reporting of budgets and forecasts. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, possess a proven track record of successful business partnering, can manage financial planning cycles and demonstrate strong modeling and forecasting skills. As a key member of the Finance team, the FP&A Manager will support planning and forecasting, KPI target setting, reporting, and analysis. This role will tackle tough analytical challenges, leverage resources to solve problems, and clearly communicate results and recommendations to executives. The FP&A Manager will be a "go-to" finance resource, integral to planning and effective decision-making. The position will be based in San Francisco, CA, with hybrid/remote option and will report to the Finance & Grants Manager.


Accounting & Reporting:

  • Provide leadership and project manage Muso’s global budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the budgeting & forecasting processes and models.

  • Align financial analysis and reporting with strategic objectives.

  • Support development of KPIs and methods to efficiently track and report KPIs.

  • Develop financial dashboards to track outcomes against objectives.

  • Support actual vs budget reporting, supported by thoughtful variance analysis and recommendations on how to drive business goals. Communicate and collaborate with business partners to gain insight and surface key financial and operational metrics.

  • Manage the collection of financial & operational data from discrete sources and work with stakeholders to ensure data integrity. Identify and execute opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve systems.

  • Conduct deep dive financial analyses using large data sets to uncover issues, identify trends and make recommendations to improve performance.

  • Assist others with special projects to support strategic decision-making.

  • Other finance duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent required.

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Finance, or similar roles; 2+ in nonprofit budgeting highly preferred.

  • Expert level user of Microsoft Excel, including advanced knowledge of tables, lookups, consolidation of multiple worksheets, and advanced formulas.

  • Expert level user of PowerPoint and/or Google Slides.

  • Exceptional financial modeling skills.

  • Highly analytical and data-driven; likes diving into large data sets and developing insights.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly present financial information, complex analysis, and strategic recommendations at an executive level.

  • Motivated, high-potential performer, with demonstrated ability to influence, lead and collaborate.

  • Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with large quantities of detailed data from multiple sources.

  • Excellent organization, prioritization & time management skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships across stakeholders and teams.

  • Commitment to just, equitable health care systems.

  • Proficiency with NetSuite preferred.

  • Availability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally.

  • Legal ability to work in the U.S.

Preferred skills

  • French proficiency is preferred but not required.

  • Compensation:  $100,000 per year for San Francisco based candidates. Candidates outside of San Francisco will be offered a comparable salary grade based on location.
