Jessica Beckerman

Chief Medical Officer

Dr Jessica Beckerman is a health justice advocate who works to end preventable deaths rooted in poverty by building rapid quality universal healthcare systems. She is the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Muso. She is also a practicing Obstetrician-Gynecologist at a county teaching hospital in Oakland, California where she was the 2023 recipient of the UCSF Outstanding Faculty Award for Medical Student Teaching. 


For the past 17 years, she and her team have conducted operational research with the government of Mali and more recently in Côte d'Ivoire, to design solutions for early access to care and improved survival. 


Dr Beckerman previously worked in health equity and human rights for the NGOs Partners In Health and Tostan. She studied international development at Brown University, obtained her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Kaiser Permanente. She has worked in West Africa since 2003, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. 


Dr Beckerman was a 2013 Rainer Arnhold Fellow, and she is a current member of the World Economic Forum class of Young Global Leaders.
