One year ago, Muso and the Malian Minister of Health together announced a new initiative for universal health coverage and child survival — together, we are supporting a national scale-up of Community Health Workers through nine operational research sites. Now, we are excited to announce a new partner in this effort: USAID. Muso has received a $1,500,000 award from the Development Innovations Ventures (DIV) program at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to support our expansion over the next three years.
This award will support Muso to grow our health care delivery in urban Mali, and embed research into our growth, producing evidence to guide Mali’s national CHW plan.
Muso’s expansion aims to deliver health care to 300,000 of Mali’s most vulnerable people across nine sites from 2016-2019 and support Mali’s national effort to connect 3.4 million people with healthcare through CHWs. DIV’s funding will cover about 10% of Muso’s $16.6 million expansion effort over the next three years.
DIV is an open global competition, supporting breakthrough solutions to the world’s most intractable development challenges – interventions that could change millions of lives at a fraction of the usual cost.
USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential.
At Muso, we know we have everything we need to solve the global child mortality crisis in our lifetimes. We are grateful to partner with the DIV team over the coming years to build the solutions together. Read the USAID Press Release
