Imagine a child, bright-eyed and full of potential, standing at the edge of their future. Each step they take toward that future is influenced by the health and well-being they receive in the early years of life. This is the reality we are shaping together with our partners, through the simple yet life-changing act of vaccination.

At Muso, in collaboration with our dedicated public sector and community partners, we have witnessed a powerful transformation. What started as a challenge to ensure every child had access to the life-saving benefits of vaccination has now become a success story that will echo for generations to come.

Through our immunization initiative, we’ve incorporated key elements from our work into every

aspect of our vaccination efforts, ranging from door-to-door outreach that brings healthcare directly to homes, to enhanced smartphone app features that streamline record-keeping and improve communication, to mobile vaccination teams delivering immunizations to doorsteps,

along with comprehensive staff training.

The impact is undeniable. At the outset of our initiative in May 2023, nearly 9% of children ages 0-2 were zero dose (meaning they had not received any vaccination). By March 2025, across our sites, less than 1% of children in this age group were zero dose.

But these numbers tell only part of the story. Each vaccination is a building block in a child’s future, a future where they can dream, learn, and achieve without the shadow of preventable illness holding them back. We are not just vaccinating against diseases; we are vaccinating

against the barriers that prevent children from becoming all they can be.

As we mark two years of this initiative (the time needed for a full immunization cycle), we will be assessing the impact of our approach on immunization coverage.

Learnings around effective and low-cost solutions for closing zero-dose gaps through community and primary health care systems will be relevant for numerous Ministries of Health that are in the process of scaling up cadres of professional CHWs to improve access to health care services, particularly in areas facing active conflict. Powered with evidence on immunization uptake, Muso will engage our Ministry partners in determining which elements of the immunization approach can be scaled up nationally to reach children across Mali and Côte d'Ivoire.
