A Spotlight on ProCHW Supervisor: Adama Togola

Behind every ProCHW delivering care in their community is a network of supervisors providing guidance, mentorship, and support. For the past decade, Adama Togola has played this critical role - helping frontline workers build the skills, confidence, and support they need to provide high-quality care to the communities Muso serves.

Adama joined Muso in 2016 as a ProCHW Supervisor in Bankass, Mali. His first assignment was in the Koulogon health area, where he supervised a team of 16 ProCHWs. Over the years, he continued supporting frontline teams across another health area like Doundé, navigating long distances, challenging roads, and remote working conditions with the same commitment that brought him to Muso.

Even before joining Muso, I was already impressed by its work. I didn't hesitate to leave my family to come to Bankass because I knew I was joining a mission that went far beyond simply having a job.

For Adama, supervision is more than monitoring performance - it is about being present, listening, and helping others grow. 

"Every morning, I wake up with the firm conviction that I am helping save lives - whether those of children, pregnant women, or other vulnerable groups."

In 2022, Adama moved to Yirimadio in Bamako, where he continued his work supporting ProCHWs. His dedication, experience, and ability to mentor others led to his appointment in 2025 as Muso’s Acting Head of ProCHW Supervision in Bamako, where he now helps coordinate the work of more than 200 ProCHWs. 

His colleagues describe him as a leader who combines technical expertise with genuine care for the teams he supports. 

"Adama is an excellent supervisor. He is always available, provides clear guidance, and consistently takes the time to strengthen our skills whenever we need support. His mentorship has helped me tremendously in my work," says Fatoumata Guindo, a ProCHW supervised by Adama since 2023. 

As Muso continues to strengthen community health systems, Adama's journey reflects the essential role of supportive supervision in helping frontline workers succeed. His work represents the many people behind the scenes who ensure that communities receive the right care at the right time. 

My greatest dream is to continue serving communities. If I take on greater responsibilities in the future, it will be above all because it will allow me to make an even greater impact on the health of Muso’s partner communities.
