A Dangerously High Fever



On November 6th, 2013, at only 4 years old, Yacouba suffered from a dangerously high fever. Yacouba’s mother took him to visit a Muso-supported Community Health Worker (CHW) for care. When the CHW evaluated Yacouba, she noticed an urgent warning sign and accompanied him to the closest health center. There, he was diagnosed with severe malaria and immediately referred to a hospital where he received life-saving treatment, including a necessary blood transfusion.

“When my son became sick, the day we brought him to the hospital for treatment, if Muso had not covered the costs, he would not have survived,” says Madou, Yacouba’s father.
