On July 30–31, 2025, Muso participated in a technical and collaborative workshop with the Directorate General of Health and Public Hygiene (DGSHP), focused on reviewing the indicators used by Professional Community Health Workers (ProCHWs) and their Dedicated Supervisors supported by Muso. This meeting is part of the interoperability process between Muso’s community health toolkit and DHIS2, the official national health data management system.

A Strategic Advancement for Mali’s Health System
This pivotal meeting laid the groundwork for a major shift in Mali’s health system: data collected by Muso on community health can now be integrated into the national DHIS2 platform, enhancing both the visibility and use of field-generated information.
Over two days, technical teams from Muso and the DGSHP conducted a detailed review of the indicators used by ProCHWs and their supervisors. The objectives of this workshop were clear:
Present and analyze the existing indicators across both platforms
Identify redundancies and gaps
Propose harmonization recommendations
Develop an implementation roadmap
Align key indicators with DHIS2 standards for integration
Towards an Integrated Health Vision
This meticulous exercise carries significant strategic weight. For Dr. Youssouf Coulibaly, Deputy Director of Health Facilities and Regulation at DGSHP, this collaboration had become essential:
"Since the interoperability between DHIS2 and DISC-Mali was established, Muso’s valuable data remained on the sidelines of the system, even though Muso is doing tremendous work within communities. Our goal is to have access to the data from ProCHWs supported by Muso and their supervisors, and to be able to use it effectively."
Once the data from ProCHWs supported by Muso is integrated, it will be accessible in DHIS2 with just a single click. “This represents a significant long-term change,” continues Dr. Coulibaly.
Recognition of Muso’s Role in Producing Reliable Data
This milestone also represents an official recognition of the strategic role Muso plays in producing reliable data. Dr. Aminata dite Nene Konipo, Coordinator of Muso’s Technical Assistance Reforms with the Ministry of Health, explains: "The data from ProCHWs supported by Muso and their supervisors will finally be visible within the national health system, improving the clarity and consistency of indicators. It is also a recognition of Muso’s role in producing high-quality data."
A First Step Toward Full Interoperability
This workshop marks the first step in a broader process. Additional sessions are planned, including in Koulikoro, to finalize the harmonization of indicators and ensure an effective connection between Muso’s community health toolkit and DHIS2.
For nearly two decades, Muso has served as a strategic partner to the Malian government. A pioneer in the digitalization of community health, the organization supports health authorities in improving the quality of frontline services. By promoting the use of tools such as DISC-Mali and the digital toolkit for ProCHWs and their supervisors, Muso helps strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and responsiveness within the health system.
